A varicose vein of the testicle and scrotum is called a varicocele and can cause pain, shrinkage of the testicle, or problems with fertility. A non-surgical treatment called embolization is available for treatment of varicoceles. Embolization is a minimally invasive treatment that involves blocking the dysfunctional blood flow in the varicocele, allowing for decrease in the size of the varicocele without surgery.
