Oncologic Interventional Therapies

Cancer causes more than 500,000 deaths each year in the United States. However, thanks to the ongoing advances in cancer detection and treatment, four out every ten people who are found to have cancer this year will be cured. At Regional Vascular Associates, we are trained and equipped to meet the advancing needs of the oncologic patient. For example, we offer targeted radioembolization with SIR-Spheres®, which is FDA-approved, for patients with colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver. With SIR-Spheres, small biocompatible radioactive spheres are injected into the liver tumor through the hepatic artery. The spheres then concentrate in the tumor, where the radiation kills the cancer cells.
