Needle Biopsy

The cause of an abnormal lump or mass in the body can often be determined by performing a needle biopsy. This alternative to surgery  is usually be performed as an outpatient, meaning the patient can return home the same day. Needle biopsies are performed using ultrasound,  computed tomography (CT), or fluoroscopic guidance by a trained interventional radiologist. Moderate sedation is utilized to keep the patient comfortable during the procedure.
