The aorta is the largest artery in the body. Some patients
develop enlargements of this artery which are at risk for
rupture. Until recently treatment has required major surgery.
Now, new therapies called endovascular therapy (refers to
working inside of the blood vessel) have been developed that
permit repair of aneurysms without the extensive surgical
procedure.
At RVA we approach endovascular treatment as a team, combining
the skills of an experienced Vascular/Interventional Radiologist
with an experienced Vascular Surgeon who has also received
special training in endovascular techniques. Our experience
and the experience of other centers who have used this approach
have shown this to be the optimal combination of specialists,
bringing the best combination of skills to bear on a sometimes
challenging therapy. We are trained in all of the currently
FDA approved devices and offer a full range of surgical options.
If your treatment requires an investigational device or a
more complex surgery than we feel comfortable with, we will
help arrange treatment where these approaches are available.
